Pongal is the harvest festival of the Tamils. The Tamils after gathering their rice crop in time celebrate the harvest. The abundance of the fresh harvest is celebrated by making a mud pot of fresh rice pongal.

The Tamils celebrated their success in their harvest by gathering fresh crops from their farm and get ready for the next season.

Celebrating success is very essential to life. Oft times we fail to enjoy our success. Celebrate your success occasionally.

2. Celebrate with your community

Our community is the source of our success. The Tamils understood that communities are enablers of economy. Pongal is celebrated as a village. The villagers gather together and everyone make a pot of pongal with their household rice harvest.

Our community is the very reason for our welfare. Celebrate your success with your community, neighbors, friends, colleagues.

3. Honor nature

Nature is the very reason for our existence. Nature nurtures life was understood by Tamils a long time ago and pongal festival involves thanking the sun for a good harvest season, the cattle and the pot for pongal is made of mud.

4. Respect the tools of your trade

For any trade or work tools are the facilitators. Pongal festivities involves cleaning and repairing the equipment and implements that involved the activities of agriculture.

5. Your family is the reason for your success

Pongal is prepared by a family as a whole and consumed together. For a man’s success his whole family is responsible. Celebrate your success along with your family. Family is the only purpose for our living.

6. Tradition is our treasure

Pongal celebrations involves a lot of traditional ways. The traditional activities are what make the pongal celebrations of joyous spirit. Traditions are significant to everyday well being. Traditions must be pursued zestfully. Traditions are treasures of wisdom from our ancestors.

7. Thank God for everything

Pongal celebrations is done by thanking God for the harvest, cattle, land, season, rain, sun and family. God is above all and God always favors us. So, be thankful to God at all times.
